A growing independent coffee chain has chosen Huddersfield for its first Yorkshire store.

Coffee House, founded by brothers Chris and Ste Shelmerdine in Lymm, Cheshire, in 2011, will open at the Kingsgate Centre on Friday September 18.

Coffee House prides itself on its signature coffee, freshly-made food and community-based approach.

The chain has grown to more than 50 stores across the North, North Wales and the Midlands, while remaining proudly independent.

Now, the business is taking its next step with its first Yorkshire location in Huddersfield, bringing its range of freshly roasted coffee, homemade cakes, breakfasts, sandwiches, toasties and other freshly prepared food to the local community.

Coffee House roasts coffee, bakes cakes and makes all food daily in their central kitchen and roastery in Warrington, before it is delivered fresh to stores every evening. This allows the business to maintain quality and consistency.

Co-founder Chris Shelmerdine said: “Opening our first store in Yorkshire is a really exciting milestone for us.

“We’ve grown from that first little shop in Lymm into a business with more than 50 stores, but we’ve always been really careful to keep the independent feel and community focus that we started with.

“Yorkshire has been an area we’ve been keen to move into for some time, so to finally be opening our doors in Huddersfield is a brilliant next step for us.

“We’re looking forward to becoming part of the local community, meeting our new customers and, hopefully, becoming their new favourite place for a coffee, catch-up or bite to eat.

“We’re incredibly proud of how far the business has come, and we’re just as excited about where we’re going next.”

The Huddersfield store will create local employment opportunities and is part of on-going expansion for the company.
