Good News Business Round Up featuring Caremark Kirklees, BE-FIT, Woodsome Hall Golf Club and Bedkingdom

We love it when businesses send us their good news and here’s our latest good news round-up, kindly sponsored by PALADIN. Awards, expansion, new contracts or new appointments, if you’ve got some good news you want to share please email the editor, Martin Shaw, on martin@huddersfieldhub.co.uk.

A Huddersfield-based home care provider is celebrating after being named among the best-rated services in Yorkshire & The Humber for the fifth year in a row – with a perfect review score of 10 out of 10.

Caremark Kirklees has once again received a Top 20 recommended provider award in the homecare.co.uk Top 20 Home Care Awards 2026, an accolade based on reviews from its customer, their families and friends.

The family-run team, based at Brooke’s Mill in Armitage Bridge, supports people across Huddersfield and the wider Kirklees area, including the Colne Valley, Holmfirth, Mirfield, Dewsbury and Batley.

Its care assistants help people remain at home through visiting care, live-in care, overnight support, companionship, respite care, dementia care, palliative care and support for people with a range of health and social care needs.

The latest recognition follows a series of positive reviews on homecare.co.uk, where customers and relatives praised the Kirklees team for being kind, reliable, professional and respectful.

People are asked to score on five categories – staff, care & support, management, treated with dignity and value for money – and leave comments about the company and its care.

Among the comments, one reviewer said they “love all my carers” and that the support makes “a massive impact” on daily life.

Another described the service as “worth every penny”, while others said they would recommend Caremark Kirklees to family and friends looking for care.

Fiona and Duncan Smith, the directors of Caremark Kirklees, said: “We are incredibly proud to be named among Yorkshire & The Humber’s Top 20 home care providers for the fifth consecutive year.

“Because these awards are based on feedback from the people we support and their loved ones, this recognition means more than anything to us.

“It is a tribute to our carers and office staff who work with dedication and compassion every day.

“We would like to thank them and every customer and family member who took the time to leave a review over the last 12 months.”

Bedkingdom has chosen Furnishing Futures as its new long-term charity partner, a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming empty social housing into safe, healing homes for women and children escaping domestic abuse.

The partnership will see Bedkingdom donate at least 30 mattresses each month, along with sofas, beds and other furniture as required.

Furniture poverty is a devastating issue for more than 14 million people in the UK, and is a problem that is literally hidden behind closed doors.

Less than 2% of social housing comes furnished. For vulnerable women and children fleeing domestic abuse, being placed into empty social housing leaves them feeling worthless and compounds their trauma.

Buying essential items is also a leading cause of debt for vulnerable families, keeping them in poverty.

Despite this, 22 million pieces of furniture end up in landfill every year, much of which is in new or as new condition.

Furnishing Futures bridges this gap by rescuing high-quality items from the interiors industry and using them to create safe, comfortable homes for families in need.

Ashley Hainsworth, founder and managing director at Heckmondwike-based Bedkingdom, said: “Partnering with Furnishing Futures was a really obvious choice for us, when we were looking for a new charity partner.

“The founder, Emily Wheeler, started the charity in response to the poverty she saw in her frontline social work, and we feel incredibly passionate about supporting her vision to end furniture poverty and make sure that no usable furniture ends up going to waste in landfill.”

Emily added: “We are thrilled to partner with Bedkingdom and grateful for their support in tackling furniture poverty.

“Their contributions will help us transform even more empty houses into homes where families can heal and rebuild their lives.”
