Fresh Futures ensures hundreds of disadvantaged children in Kirklees have a present this Christmas

Colne Valley-based pharmaceutical company STADA Thornton & Ross has pledged its support to Kirklees charity Fresh Futures and its 2025 Christmas appeal through its STADA Community Catalyst Fund.

Thanks to a £2,000 grant from the fund, Huddersfield-based Fresh Futures has been able to expand its reach to over 1,000 families, through a referral system which involves over 70 community groups.

The STADA Community Catalyst Fund is an initiative where groups and non-profit organisations in HD1-HD7 postcodes can apply for funding grants or specialist guidance to help them further support their local communities.

STADA has successfully collaborated with 17 community organisations since launching the fund in April 2024.

Fresh Futures has been supporting disadvantaged children, young people and their families for over 15 years across Kirklees, alongside its partners which include Uniform Exchange, The Welcome Centre and Auntie Pam’s.

Fresh Futures provides advocacy, essential support services and access to safe spaces for those who need it most.

Katie Shephard, head of income and engagement at Fresh Futures, said: “We feel very confident that we can support over 1,000 children this Christmas. Last year, we were able to deliver over 1,200 presents to more than 300 families.

“When you consider that many of these children may otherwise have nothing to open on Christmas morning, it shows just how meaningful this funding is. It allows us to deliver a project that truly matters.

“We are so grateful to the team at STADA Thornton & Ross for their support with this year’s appeal. Because of their funding, we will be able to continue supporting families in the local area.”

Craig Shaw, general manager at STADA Thornton & Ross, added: “We’re incredibly proud to support Fresh Futures’ Christmas appeal this year.

“Partnering with a charity that has such a meaningful impact in our community is a huge privilege, and we are also grateful to have played a part in helping them reach more families at a time when it matters most, helping us to further commit to our purpose of caring for people’s health as a trusted partner.”
