Marsden-based Dark Woods Coffee has won a gold award for one of its Colombian coffees at the Great British Food Awards 2025.
Renowned food expert Jon Reed awarded the Colombia El Placer Wush Wush (Black Honey Process) a Gold Badge.
The winning entry, from El Placer’s farm in Colombia, is regarded as one of the very best products available within the UK’s food and drink sector in 2025.
The coffee was judged by industry expert Jon Reed to be a prime example of great British food and drink – demonstrating not only delicious flavour but providing an optimum taste experience and one-of-a-kind enjoyment.
Mr Reed said of the coffee: “Stunning tea-like quality, beautiful nose and delicious ripe fruit flavours.”
Damian Blackburn, of Dark Woods Coffee, said: “It’s an honour to win a gold accolade and it’s a testimony to everyone’s hard work, care and efforts from farm to cup.
“We just hope it opens doors for more consumers to experience and enjoy distinctive, unusual coffees and give confidence to the producers that they are making the right decisions for their own business, able to add value and hopefully reap financial rewards as well as enjoy in the success.”
