The latest images of what Huddersfield’s new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) will look like inside have been released.
The CDC, run by Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, is within the Emily Siddon Building, the second building under construction on the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus.
The CDC, off Southgate in Huddersfield town centre, is due to open in January 2026.
It will give Huddersfield people access to diagnostic tests away from hospitals and in a more convenient location.
The Huddersfield CDC is the first in the UK to be located on a university campus.
Senior staff from the Trust recently visited the Emily Siddon Building and associate director of strategy, Catherine Riley, said: “It was great to go and see how our second CDC is shaping up, only a year after we opened the hugely successful CDC at Broad Street Plaza in Halifax.
“The space is really shaping up. We looked round the whole building, including floors to be occupied by the university.
“We’ve designed the CDC in a way that is friendly, comforting and welcoming for our patients, which we know is important.
“Being in the centre of Huddersfield gives greater choice to our patients and means that some people do not have to come into hospital at all.
“Once open, it will be a huge step forward in being able to run most of our planned diagnostic tests and activity that would normally be done in hospital, out in the community.”

The first phase of the new CDC opened in July 2025 in the neighbouring Daphne Steele Building, which is already offering cardiorespiratory tests, ultrasound scans and drop-in phlebotomy clinics.
This means that patients referred to the Trust for these tests may be offered an appointment in the community rather than in hospital.
Other floors of the Emily Siddon Building will contain specialist clinical teaching facilities which will also be delivered in partnership with the Trust, including new course areas relating to the work of the CDC, such as diagnostic radiography.
