A local company has supported the town’s children’s hospice for 10 years.

Core Facility Services has supported the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Brackenhall for 10 years and was one of its founding Platinum Partners in 2021. These are companies that pledge to support the hospice for at least 12 months.

Core Facility Services helps businesses and charities minimise the amount they spend on energy, waste and IT services and works with them to develop strategies to manage these overheads. They are doing this for the hospice as well as making regular financial donations.

Ken Davy, president of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Platinum Partners, presented a Platinum Partner plaque to Core Facility Services managing director Colette Watts and head of IT Alec Jackson.

Colette said: “Core has a very special relationship with Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which goes beyond financial donations and fundraising.

“This is an incredible charity and we have developed a longstanding and productive partnership that has seen us support them in all kinds of practical ways, as well as through corporate sponsorship.

“We are incredibly proud to be one of the founding members of the Platinum Partners initiative and highly recommend this scheme to other businesses that are looking for a rewarding charitable relationship where they can make a genuine impact.”

Ken added: “We are delighted Core Facility Services has decided to renew their membership of our Platinum Partner consortium. Their ongoing support will help us build a sustainable future caring for families facing or living with the loss of their child.”

The charity needs to raise £5.5m this year to run the hospice, with only a fraction of those funds coming from the government or NHS.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports babies and children with life-shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire.

It has a wide range of services from pregnancy including superb nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory making, end of life care, bereavement support and counselling for the whole family.
