A construction manager currently working on sites in Golcar and Edgerton has won a prestigious industry award.
Ben Bowen, construction manager at Jones Homes, was named Construction Specialist of the Year for the Yorkshire region in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards. He will now go forward to the national Grand Finals in January.
Ben is currently responsible for Jones Homes sites including Century View in Golcar and Clayton Manor in Edgerton.
Ben said: “I am so proud to be named Yorkshire’s Construction Specialist of the Year by the LABC. This has been quite a year for me, as I’ve also achieved my NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction qualification, which was a long-standing ambition.
“But I’m most proud of building high-quality homes, where customers are happily living. I think this is best achieved through collaboration and communication and I’ve developed good relationships with my building inspectors as part of this approach.
“I also set myself and my teams the highest standards and I’d like to thank everyone I work with for playing their part in ensuring quality on every home we build.”
A bricklayer by trade, Ben has worked in the construction industry for 20 years. He joined Jones Homes as a site manager in 2016 before being promoted to his current role six years ago.
Jake Bojcic, divisional construction director for Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “I have had the pleasure of working with Ben for a number of years and have seen first-hand the professionalism, commitment and pride he brings to every project.
“Ben leads by example and earns the respect of everyone he works with. His health and safety qualifications provide a strong technical foundation, but it is his attitude and determination to continually improve that really set him apart.
“Ben never accepts ‘good enough’ and is always looking at how quality, safety and customer satisfaction can be enhanced.
“Ben is passionate about the housebuilding industry, embraces change and continually drives improvements across the developments he oversees.
“His success in the LABC Building Excellence Awards is thoroughly deserved, and I’d like to congratulate him and wish him all the best for the Grand Finals in January.”
