Community support ensures Lindley Christmas Evening goes ahead for 2025

Community support for a crowdfunder has ensured Lindley Christmas Evening can go ahead this year.

The popular event, a highlight of Christmas for hundreds of families, will take place on Tuesday December 2 2025 (6pm-9pm).

The event is all about festive cheer, live entertainment and community spirit.

The crowdfunder was needed to raise £2,000 to cover essential costs such as the closure of Lidget Street and event infrastructure.

Clr Cahal Burke, chair of Lindley Community Group, which organises the event, said: “The Lindley Christmas Evening is one of the highlights of our community calendar and a real celebration of local spirit.

“We’re incredibly grateful to all those who have already contributed – without their support, this event simply couldn’t go ahead.

“The crowdfunder remains open until the end of November, so there’s still time for local businesses and residents to get involved. Every contribution helps us make the evening even better for everyone.”

Lidget Street will be closed from 5.30pm to 9.30pm and a signed diversion route will be in place.

Fairground attractions will be located in the Lindley car park, which will be closed from 10am on Tuesday December 2 to allow for set-up.

The evening will open at 6pm with a special performance by the Lindley Infant School Choir.

There will be live music, festive stalls and food and drink vendors. Lindley Clock Tower will be open to host a beautifully-decorated Santa’s grotto.

Clr Anthony Smith (Liberal Democrat, Lindley) said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people and businesses coming together to support this event.

“The response has been brilliant, and it shows just how much Lindley values its community traditions.”

Fellow ward councillor Clr Ashleigh Robinson added: “Lindley Christmas Evening is a wonderful way to bring everyone together and celebrate the start of the festive season.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the community enjoy the night.”

The councillors thanked everyone who has supported the event, in particular The Mount School in Edgerton for sponsoring the night to ensure it could go ahead.

Donations to support the event can still be made via the crowdfunding page HERE.
