A free-to-hire community room at Utilita’s High Street Energy Hub in Huddersfield has proved a big success.
The warm space – which comes with complimentary refreshments – is at the Utilita shop on the corner of New Street and Ramsden Street in Huddersfield town centre.
It’s available to charities and community groups and the NHS regularly uses it for meetings and recruitment interviews.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance have both held a Saturday Takeover event. The air ambulance is set to return on Saturday October 4.
Hub supervisor James Auty said: “Our community room is already buzzing with activity and we’re also now delighted to be hosting a series of Saturday Takeover events where we join forces with local charities, groups and services to offer a wide range of support to our hub visitors.
“So far, we’ve been delighted to host Saturday Takeovers for our local PCSOs, the Fire and Rescue Service and The Branch – a grassroots volunteer organisation that helps to combat isolation and strengthen resilience.
“Our door is always open, so please do get in touch if you would like to know more about the Saturday Takeover initiative.
“Anyone who is worried by the continuing rise in energy bills and other household costs is invited to come along to our hub events and you don’t have to be a Utilita customer to take part.
“Many of our visitors also take advantage of our free Energy Efficiency workshops, designed to increase awareness and understanding of energy consumption and provide practical strategies for reducing energy waste and improving energy efficiency.
“We can tailor our workshops to various settings – including homes, workplaces and charity or community groups, offering interactive learning experiences and personalised advice.
“We aim to foster a shared understanding of energy efficiency challenges and opportunities – good for the planet, and your pocket!”
Local community groups interested in using the hub’s free to hire community space, or organisations wanting to book a Saturday Takeover, should email Huddersfield@utilita.co.uk.
