Colne Valley spring fayre gives people chance to see one of the UK’s most pioneering day centres

A spring fayre in Slaithwaite this Saturday (March 28) will feature stalls, live music and a chance to look round one of the most innovative day centres in the country.

Waves day centre for adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities is staging the event from 10am to 3pm.

Admission is free and all the money raised will be going towards the centre and the Making Waves charity which provides specialist equipment, emergency funding if members are in crisis and help funding social activities.

The live music will feature the Waves Choir from 12noon to 1.30pm.

The spring fayre entertainment also includes cakes, drinks and food and the stalls will be selling everything from candles, jewellery, personalised crafts and chocolate bouquets to clothes.

The Waves centre is next to The Handmade Bakery on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath and its address is 5 Upper Mills, Slaithwaite, HD7 5HA.

Waves helps people aged 18 and over with learning and/or physical difficulties lead full lives with activities including performing arts, baking, making music, arts and crafts, virtual reality games, swimming, walks, horticulture in the Waves garden, caring for animals and sharing what they do on social media.

The members also get the chance to go on holidays and the charity also provides respite care and overnight breaks when members’ families face a crisis.
