Veteran tennis player Becky Lee has won her first England call-up … at the age of 54.
Becky, who is the tennis manager at Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, has represented Yorkshire for many years and captained several veterans’ teams.
But her success at three tournaments in the singles and doubles last year led to the England call-up and she’ll now be playing in the Over 50s Four Nations tournament in Glasgow in early May.
It will see her competing in the singles and doubles against Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Becky (above), of Longwood, said: “I’m really pleased to get the call. I’m not sure who my doubles partner will be yet as that will be decided by the England team captain.”
And she revealed her strengths on the court.
“I guess it’s my aggressive forehand and sliced backhand which brings me into the net to try to finish it off with a volley,” she said.
Last year Becky played in three major Seniors Masters tournaments run by the International Tennis Federation in Wrexham, Bournemouth and Wimbledon.
She played in the singles and also with her regular doubles partner – Gill Kilner who coaches at Holmfirth Tennis Club and is seen below (left) with Becky – where they reached the doubles finals in all three and Becky reached the singles final at Wimbledon.

Becky has represented Yorkshire for seniors teams for the last 20 years and has captained the 35s, 40s, 50s and 55s teams.
Last year the 55s teams reached the national final but lost to Middlesex.
