Emley AFC have been handed the toughest possible draw in the FA Vase but first it’s down to the business of promotion.
The Pewits travel to Worcester City, title chasers in the Hellenic League and FA Vase favourites, in the quarter-finals on Saturday March 9.
It’s the first time Emley have been as far in the competition since 1988 but thoughts of their biggest game in years are put to the back of the mind as there’s the small matter of promotion to occupy them before then.
Emley are three points clear at the top of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, with two games in hand over second-placed Campion.
Emley take on midtable Tadcaster Albion at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday (February 17) and boss Richard Tracey is urging the home fans to drive his side on.
Last Saturday saw 828 fans pack the ground to cheer Emley to a 2-0 victory against Whickham in the FA Vase – the biggest crowd since the club returned to the village in 2005.
Speaking to the club’s official website Tracey said: “Tadcaster are very brave on the ball and try to do things the right way.
“They look to play out from the back and get the wingers involved and get going forward as fast as possible.
“We know it won’t be an easy game, however we have to replicate what we’ve done against Whickham and battle our way through to three more points.
“I thought it was a great atmosphere last Saturday and the fans really turned out. The atmosphere built before the game last week and we need that again to help us get the win.”
The game kicks off at 3pm.
