It’s Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival this weekend (September 16 and 17) with food, drink and lots of entertainment.

The two-day festival usually attracts more than 40,000 people and the streets are lined with quality produce and drink.

All the food stalls will be open from 10am to 5pm on both days and the stalls in Towngate by Holmfirth bus station will be open until 8pm on Saturday. The team behind the festival is a mix of local business owners and volunteers.

The food and drink this year includes venison and wild boar, a bao street kitchen, Greek street food, gourmet scotch eggs, salami, haggis, black pudding, kebabs, doner, baklava, Temujin stir fry, Yorkshire cheeses, pizza, pasta, brownies, chilli sauces, pickles, jams, paella, falafel, masala fries, cheesecake, burros, sweets, coffee, Castle Hill G in, fruit liqueurs, and even human grade dog food.

There will also be gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options.

The main stage will be in the library car park and here’s the entertainment line-up:

Holmfirth-based Craftydevilz specialises in circus skills … but will be giving visitors to the festival the chance to do them and be the stars of the show.

People will also be able to get close up to owls thanks to the Wise Owl family run rescue centre which takes in wild owls and birds of prey from the wild, gets them back to health and puts them back into the wild.

Holmfirth Food & Drink Festival and sponsors Vocation Brewery have joined forces to launch a competition on social media, giving people the chance to win a fantastic selection of goodies from a handful of this year’s festival exhibitors.

The lucky winner will be presented with generous prizes from the likes of Vocation Brewery, Danelaw Coffee, Yorkshire Dama Cheese, Daddy Cool’s Chilli Sauce, Hey Sweetheart Sweetshop, Castle Hill Gin and Gangplank Spirits & Preserves.

To enter, go to the Holmfirth Food & Drink Festival Instagram (@HolmfirthFood) and enter the competition by September 17, 2023.

Social media, photography and video updates for the festival are being done by Honley-based digital marketeers Social Progress.
