Huddersfield’s HSBC bank is moving its branch into the Kingsgate Centre.

The bank, which has been based in a multi-storey building on the corner of Cloth Hall Street and New Street since the early 2000s, will make the move in Spring 2024.

The bank says it is planning to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds in a new “flagship branch” in the Kingsgate Centre that will provide “significantly greater accessibility for customers who are wheelchair users, mobility impaired, partially sighted or neuro-diverse.”

The current branch, which only uses two of the six floors, is leased from the landlord and there is a break clause. It is not known what the future plans are for the building.

HSBC says its existing staff will move over to the new branch and work is due to start on the Kingsgate premises by the end of this year.

Lisa Moore, HSBC UK’s local director, said: “We continue to invest in our branch network to make our customers’ experience with us a good one and I am proud that we will be opening a new flagship branch in Huddersfield.

“Our new branch will have updated state-of-the-art self-service technology, along with our traditional counter and the same great team of staff on hand to support with any products, services or support required.

“We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers to the branch when we open.”
