Emley suffered their first league defeat of the season as Hallam won 3-1 at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Tuesday night. Ruben Jerome scored a very late consolation from the penalty spot to get his tally up and running for the campaign.
After picking up their first league win of the season at Eccleshill last week, Emley were looking to pick up their first win in front of their home fans following a draw with Garforth and a defeat in the FA Cup to Avro.
Despite there being good early signs for Emley it was their defence that was tested time and again as Hallam marauded down both wings seeking the opening goal.
The deadlock was broken in the 14th minute when the ball fell to Brandon Bradbury just inside the area and his low shot beat Emley’s Dec Lambton to put Hallam 1-0 up.
Hallam doubled their lead five minutes after the break through Kieren Watson before Oliver Fearon made it 3-0.
Emley showed fight in the last 15 minutes and when Jerome was felled in the box, the referee pointed to the spot. Jerome took the kick himself but the goal a minute from time was mere consolation for the home side.
Emley’s next fixture is away at Golcar United on Saturday afternoon with a 3pm kick off.
