Dan Naidole’s wonder strike rescued a point in a 1-1 draw at Maltby Main and extended Golcar United’s unbeaten run to five matches.
The Weavers are on a good run which has lifted them out of relegation danger at the foot of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Maltby took the lead 10 minutes into the second half after they stopped a Golcar attack and swiftly countered. Sam Ackroyd finished off the move with a composed finish past Harry Stead.
Golcar didn’t let their heads drop and came close to equalising when Slater Barnes’ corner was pushed onto the post but Naidole’s rebound was kept out on the line.
Naidole, though, wasn’t to be denied and came up with something special in the 68th minute. A headed clearance out of defence fell to Naidole whose volleyed scissor kick left the Maltby keeper stranded.
Golcar are back in action at the Skye Direct Stadium on Saturday February 4 (3.00) when they take on third-placed Garforth Town. It’s the first home game since November.
