Golcar United are two points clear at the top of the North West Counties Division One North. The task now is to take that momentum going forward and maintain their unbeaten start to the season for as long as possible.
Wednesday night’s 5-3 victory at Garstang was a fifth win in six matches and saw the Weavers go top for the first time this season.
Ashley Flynn grabbed another brace to make it 10 goals scored from five games played. That’s an unbelievable start to the season from the recently signed striker. Meanwhile also getting on the score sheet was former Huddersfield Town player Joe Skarz. He whipped a 25 yard free kick into the top left hand corner.

Golcar’s other two goals came from Dan Naidole who was delighted to be back on the pitch after picking up a knock against Atherton.
On his two goals Naidole said: “I was very pleased to get two goals. I was glad to get the fourth goal – my second – which just gave us that extra breathing room.”

Naidole can see the confidence building in the dressing room from the positive results. However he isn’t prepared to get too far ahead of himself.
He said: “Confidence is building in the squad. We know it’s early so we are keeping our feet on the ground and working hard in training and taking it game by game.
“It is too early for me to look at the table but it is nice to be at the top.”
Golcar were going to have a home double header over the Bank Holiday weekend but the game against Cleator Moor Celtic on Saturday was postponed with the opposition unable to raise a team.
So instead all the focus will be on a big Bank Holiday Monday crowd as 7th placed Bacup Borough arrive at the Skye Direct Stadium (3.00 ko).
Naidole said: “I think if we can limit teams scoring against us we have the firepower to score goals against any team in this league.
“We just need to put in 100% and perform like we can. I expect a big crowd and the supporters have been fantastic so far so let’s do it for them.”

Just like Naidole, joint boss Ash Connor isn’t looking at the league table just yet.
He said: “We are six games in, I don’t look at the league table until we get further on into the season. If there were six games left then that’s a different matter. There is still lots of football to play yet.”
