The Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Virtual Big Sleep Out, which took place last Friday, has raised £7,569…and counting.

All money raised will be split between the Foundation’s Breakfast Club scheme and local organisations tackling homelessness, making a real difference in the local community.

Friday’s event was very different to previous years with supporters encouraged to sleep out in their gardens, sheds or garages, rather than coming together at the John Smith’s Stadium.

All 40 people who took part received a goodie bag courtesy of the Foundation, including a Town hat and scarf, cuddly toy and breakfast items for the morning.

There was also a two-hour show broadcast live from Canalside, in which hosts Adam Tomlinson and Gareth Jones introduced a range of special guests.

Previous Big Sleep Out beneficiaries and participants, Town chairman Phil Hodgkinson and members of the first-team squad all took part in the action-packed show, which garnered around 5,000 views across YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

On the success of the event Lisa Bottomley, fundraising executive at the Town Foundation, said: “It was great to see so much support for the event on the night, whether that be people making a donation, engaging on social media or sleeping under the stars.

“Despite the Government restrictions we were always keen to host Big Sleep Out 4 in one way or another, given the importance of the issues of food poverty and homelessness.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybody involved in making the Big Sleep Out 4 possible – it really will make a huge difference to vulnerable people of all ages.”

There is still time to make a donation, should you wish to do so.
